Hip Hop in the Ville #20 Rob Vick

Written by Crystal Walker
Rob Vick is a rap artist from Nashville TN. He has been blessed with the talent to rap at a early age. Throughout his teen years he played around with the thought of becoming a rapper; but never really took it serious. Remembering his first studio session, he felt a bit intimidating, but once he heard himself on a music track; he received a rush from within. By the year of 2003 and 2004 Rob began to look at his talent, take it serious, and move into a different direction. With music being his desire; he used his music talent to deliver the truth about Jesus; in a way that would reach those whom didn't listen to the traditional gospel music. In 2005, Rob had a rap gospel video, that aired on Video Gospel. That type of accomplishment made him really see blessings come about. Also winning the Gospel Artist of the Year Award; from the 1st Annual Hip Hop in the Ville Awards. He knows his true calling and purpose in life, which is to educate those around him with the word of God. Rob, consistently, for the past few months has had performances as Sound Therapy. He will soon to be in Atlanta for a performance, also performing at different churches as well. Even though he moves around a lot spreading the word of God through music. He still finds time to attend church at Lake Providence Baptist Church. Working under his label, Exodus Music, Rob had a album called, "Jesus Advocate". He has completed mixtapes that can be found on Datpiff.com entitled, "Viktory Mixtape", and "Prodigal Son Mixtape".

Hip Hop in the Ville #19 Yung Ray

Written by Crystal Walker
Yung Ray from Inglewood of East Nashville step foot in the rap game about 2 years ago. Even though his time in the game hasn't been long; his music shows creativity, passion, and hunger he brings out from within. Over the years growing up, Yung Ray felt his need to be a performer. Taking a step out on faith, he made a choice to become a full time artist. Days when he visualized himself managing his music, handling business, has now turned into his reality. Falling back on the memory of his first studio session; he didn't feel any type of nervousness or intimidation. Even with his first onstage performance; he felt no fear, more humble than anything. That performance gave him great assurance; he felt it was more for him than the audience. Proving to himself that he could do anything he wanted to was confirmation also. With all the hard work, grind time, and dedication; it's all done for his family and those around him. He worked all around the music realm, from working with groups even. Learning that working with others everyone would have to be on the same page, if not it brings conflict. Yung Ray bringing 100% to the table every time, he felt that he would be better off going solo. With Shife Lyfe Ent. he began to advance bringing real, A-1, all the way in your face type of music, it demands your attention. Realizing the love around him from his movement with CTS Gang (Can't Trust Shit), his fans, and his stomping grounds of Inglewood; he feels truly blessed. Yung Ray has a upcoming video expected to drop within the next couple of weeks; also an album entitled,"Hard Work Pays Off". That should be out soon as well. To keep updates on Yung Ray and the CTS Gang he can be contacted at www.facebook.com/Yung-Ray and at youtube.com as well.
