Hip Hop in the Ville #9 Lil West
Written by Crystal Walker
Rapped LiL West coming straight out of Altus,Oklahoma and he is making his way around the map slowly but surely. LiL West loved the thrill of music so much he began to dabble in it himself. At the age of 14 he began writing and became more impressed with his own talent. He aged around with his friends with typical freestyle battles and rap sessions. Feeling his talent he knew he could take it further. At 15 LiL West and his friends were offered the opportunity to open up for one major local artist in Oklahoma. Having that boost of empowerment behind him, he was set to become a rapper. Now at 21 years old he has projects in the making to hit the streets in 2012. The first mixtape he has coming is "Blunts and HeadPhones". His second one that should be expected to drop by his birthday on June 26. Which is entitled "Accepting All Challenges". LiL West explained how his own unique way of rapping can easily seperate him from all of the rest. Not having many people in his area that rap in Oklahoma, and getting the recognition he receives, LiL West sees the love. With LiL West being compared to a big local artist Rock Bottom, whom he knew through his uncle. He was aware of his work, and how it was acknowledged by his community, which shows how his talent spread around at such a quick pace. Being featured in a music video, "City I Claim". Brought him out shining with an immaculate light. He loves the appreciation and how it is being shown. LiL West makes it his goal to bring his goal to bring his own thank yous out through his music. He is forever grateful at all the opportunities that are coming his way. Now living in Atlanta GA and performing at the after party for the upcoming. HHV AWARDS shows this man's grind is serious.

Hip Hop in the Ville #8 - Nashville Tattoo
Written by Crystal Walker
Throughout many years tattoos have been used as a form of expression. Today, many of us have used tattoos in any way imaginable. The art of expression goes beyond tattoos, it includes body piercings as well. Today tattoos and body piercings give people a since of freedom and control. When considering a tattoo, it can be hard searching for that right artist who can bring your vision to life. Rose, the owner of "Ink Tattoo" will tells us why his shop is the way to go, in the Nashville area. Being an artist all his life, he knew what his passion was. After the military, he began to work in the corporate word which brought in good money, but it lacked passion and drive. After 5 years, he decided to go back to what he loves and where his true interest lies; he went back to art. Nashville Ink has been apart of the Nashville community for the last 3 years. Out of all the tattoo shops here in Nashville, his shop stands out for many reasons. First, his shop is located in a community, rather than off a busy intersection or road. Everyone within that community knows about Nashville Ink Tattoo. Secondly, his shop drives off of the passion for art, and not the passion for money. Money, is the last thing this business worries about. Last but certainly not least, each artist wants their customer to feel at home and feel welcome. Walking inside of Nashville Ink Tattoo, will have you will feeling the warmth, and not the feeling that you get when you are at the dentist. They are all super professionals when it comes to the power of art. About 90% of their clientele has referred at least one or two people to the shop. That shows that the customers know it's more than just a tattoo shop, it's a home.

Hip Hop in the Ville #7- Axtion
Axtionwritten by Crystal Walker Murfreesboro's own, Axtion is making moves and printing them out. Growing up in Murfreesboro, TN at the age of 13, he was listening to the one and only 2 Pac. Not only did he listen, to the music, Axtion wrote 2 Pac's lyrics down to really get a clearer understanding of what he was saying. Becoming intrigued by the lyrics he listened to and read, Axtion knew he could do it himself. Now at 28 years old he has accomplished plenty. Being a rapper, producer, video director, and graphic designer, and owning his own record label, this man is a jack-of-all trades in the music game. Over the years he has been making his way through the game with force. In 2009 he won the U.M.C. in 2009. In 2010 he won a HipHopInTheVille Award for Best Video. Axtion has a single out now, entitled, "Brand New" that a lot of people are feeling and a couple of dj's are playing. It is currently on ITUNES as well. With his own record label, YOUNG I$LAND ENT, there isn't a need for a major deal. He likes to be hands on with his projects, and can shoot his own videos, and do his own productions, and promotions using all the sources from Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc. Axtion feels if he is the one doing it all, he will always get 100% at all times. He has just dropped his "ONE MAN ARMY" and has shot about 4-5 videos to it. They are all available on www.youngislandent.com for a free download. In 2012 you can expect to have his "ONE MAN ARMY 2" mix tape. This is the mix tape Axtion feels should make a lot of things happen for him.
Hip Hop in the Ville #6 10Gzy
10GzyWritten by Crystal Walker The Eastside of Nashville is in full focus with the one and only 10Gzy. Not wanting to become a product of his environment, he used his inspiration and interest towards the rap game to pull him in from the streets 11 years ago. Rapping was his excuse to stay out of the streets and put his attention somewhere more productive. In 2003 his career became more professional. 10Gzy now has 4 mix-tapes out entitled, "Grown Ass Man Vol.1, Bipolar Disorder Vol.2, Lil Man Syndrome Vol.1, and Most Anticipated Vol.2. He has a few collaborations with a few C-List and major artists including, Such as Bo Dill, Wacka Flacka, Kills Nash, and TankHeatTotta. Unlike other artist, 10Gzy has made a video for each of his songs on every Mix-tape he has created. So far he has 15 videos out. This shows plenty of hustle and drive within his path. He was nominated for an award last year at the 2nd HHV Awards, and nominated for two awards this year including, Best Video, and Hardest Grinder of the Year. 10Gzy is not only a rapper, he is also an actor. He was in the movie King of the Ville. In 2012 you can catch him in King of the Ville Part 2, and in Queen Over Her Prince. Knowing the love has spread beyond his family and friends, and had reached his fellow peers outside the community, gives him more gratitude than any one could imagine.

Hip Hop in the Ville #5-Tha City Paper
Tha City Paper-Written by Crystal Walker Paper is making head waves in Nashville,Tn. Growing up on the north and west side of Nashville, he slowly began to plant his seeds without even knowing. Around 1996/1997 while in high school, Paper was dating the cousin of a rapper named Pistol. He was also cool with Pistol's cousins who was apart of a group called,"PJN", whom Pistol created. Paper began to listen in a lot, and slowly but surely his interest for rap was peaking. He later became apart of that group as well. Over time, he featured on plenty of Pistol's tracks, and slowly made a name for himself. He has made many songs, including, "City Paper (dope boy swagg)", and "Lil Bo Tuff". He has a mix tape entitled,"Dopaman" with D.J. Scream. His 2012 projects will bring his listeners "Dopaman II", a mix tape that will be released early March. Also, another mix tape he has in motion will give the artist around him a chance to shine as well. It will include City Papa with Generation X collaborations, and artist within his community that will make a special appearance. Paper is well aware that none of his success would be possible if it wasn't for Pistol putting him on and pushing him to become who he is today. He is taking that gratitude to do the same for the artists around him. He feels he can do for them what Pistol did for him. His respect for the rap game allows him to see the struggle that artists may go through when they are trying to make it on their own. He knows it could be years before someone could be noticed by their own community, so he feels he can help as much as possible.

Hip Hop in the Ville #4- Hot Stuff Wings
Hot Stuff WingsWritten by Crystal Walker Originally from Michigan, KiKi, owner of Hot Stuff Wings, is now cooking and frying up Nashville. It has now been apart of the Nashville community for the past two years. Kiki and her fiancee were big fans of Princes Hot Chicken. They used to commute faithfully just to eat that chicken. After several drives back and fourth, they realized their own passion to run a restaurant. They developed a popular wing spot in the Antioch area. Now being nominated for best wings in the city, the proof is definitely in the pudding. They make sure they keep the same good quality each and every time. With their special flavors for their wings, and being sure each batch has the same results, it has quality assurance all over it. When asked if she might have different franchises one day, the answer is "Yes". She feels if the customers want more, then that's what they will give them. Their motivation comes from the people around them. Knowing the consistency of good food, and having love and support from the people around them, is all the drive and desire they need to keep them going with their restaurant. Hip Hop in the Ville #3- Bezzeled Gang
Group Bang Bang Bezzeled Gang is bringing out Nashville. Winning last years group of the year award, at the 2nd Annual Hip Hop in the Ville Awards only pushed them to blast off with pure cut clarity. Young Steezie a known member and founder of Bang Bang Bezzeled started as a young boy growing up in the streets of Southside Nashville. With Lil Vak, Killa Cali, and PSG all inspired by the glitz and glam of Bezzeled charms and Bezzeled bracelets, with those out shining begatt stones any young teenager would be fascinated. Using their love for jewelry Young Steezie entitled the group Bang Bang Bezzeled Gang. At the age of 16, when Steezie began to take rapping more serious, the group made a song called South Be Ballin. The song had so much success it landed the group with many collaborations throughout the years with such artists as Young Buck, Star Litto, Paper, and Project Pat. They have held performances in Murfreesboro, and Franklin TN, and Huntsville AL. Young Steezie says,"It feels good to know that our work is being recognized and the love is being shown". With Young Steezie, Lil Vak, Killa Cali, PSG, and 100 Goons behind them, they are on their grind and on the way to the road to success.
